19TH CENTURY "UNGLAZED" REDWARE BANK

This is the first redware bank I have had that is unglazed, most are. This reminds me of a pomegranate, as shown in the picture, but is probably an apple. These banks were known as "End of Day" banks because the potter didn't want to waste any leftover clay from the days work, so he made whimsical items, like banks. This is a great find because it is so primitive looking, can also be put under the catagory of FOLK ART. In great condition but for one small hole on the bottom, the coin slot is in great condition...
