IMMIGRANTS CHEST SIGNED, DATED AND IN ORIGINAL PAINT, FOLK ART
This magnificent chest, which was found in Lancaster, Pa, is a wonderful immigrants chest. The chest is painted in German Dutch design, and when looking through a book on American Folk Art, I found the design, the painting, in the book on another chest. The article said this form of painting was typical of German Dutch motif and was painted on chests here in America by the immigrants. All the information plus more pictures are under my FURNITURE heading. A great find! SOLD

CIRCA 1800'S "AMERICAN" BEE SKEP
This is a wonderful American Made Bee Skep. I say American, because of all the imports coming into the country, I want to state, this is American Made, from the 1800's. This is in excellent condition and shows some old honey actually inside the skep, plus some old mud, from where the bees made their hives. These were placed in flower beds, etc and the bees made their hives and the colonists collected the honey!! This is made from rye, a fact that rodents didnt like the taste of rye and therefore, the skeps were safe from rodents eating the skeps. There is a hole at the top and a square opening at the base, for the bees to come and go. I put this in the folk art section, as I feel these do depict our heritage and are folky. American antique bee skeps are getting hard to find!! SOLD
