                  THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE "HOME"

HOME!! What image comes to mind when you think of HOME. I think of home as my sanctuary, a place of security and comfort, a place you can close out all the stress of the day. Home and hearth conjures up wonderful thoughts to me. Collectors of Early American antiques love them for many reasons. Some feel the pull of the past; how many times have we heard the expression, "I must have lived in an earlier time!" I say that all the time myself. I feel comfortable surrounded by treasures of the past and I love to LIVE WITH these wonderful antiques. I look at a handmade drysink and try to imagine who made it, how he made it, how big was the tree he cut down by hand, to hand plane it and then make the nails, paint and the finished product and now I OWN IT. All the lovely primitives we have acquired over the years, all the new homes they went to and the comfort these treasures give to each of us, makes us keep on the trail, always searching for the best we can find. Today's market demands high prices for these early antiques and we strive to offer affordable antique in an escalating market, each item we find is HAND PICKED. We are forever grateful to our wonderful creator for helping in the hunt and we are blessed by so many wonderful friends/customers, that appreciate our great finds. In this hectic world we live in, it is so nice to come HOME. *******************************************************************************

                      The Peacefulness of Winter

We turn our clocks ahead so our mornings are brighter but evening falls upon us earlier, and with that, there comes a peacefulness, that day is done and it is time to feel the uncoming of winter. Some complain about the long days of winter, but I welcome them as we slow down from the hectic summer days and fall into a pattern of quiet evenings and nights. Snow gently falls upon a quiet land and our windows become misty from the warmth from the fire in the hearth. We put a pot of soup on to simmer, using herbs we dried from our garden, and take time to bake cookies, write letters and visit with a friend that we haven't talked to in awhile. We prepare for Christmas, the excitement of cutting down the Christmas tree, getting all the ornaments out that were so lovingly put away last year and look forward to family and friends, sharing in the most amazing of all times, the birth of our Savior. Many blessings to all our customers that have become friends, old and new alike!

UPDATE ON CHRISTMAS SHOW AT OLD WICK, NJ DEC 3 & 4

This was our last show of the year and it was wonderful. This is a very festive show, with plenty of Christmas cheer. Feather trees, tinsel, ornaments, and all the old vintage decorations from Christmas past! The show started with a HUGE gate, a wonderful crowd that was in a buying spirit. We sold our 18th Century candlestand almost immediately and the day progressed nicely. We had a Wonderful EARLY painted candle wall shelf that sold quickly, also an original painted country store hanging cupboard. Of course, we sold some yellowware, we always bring a nice variety, and many other fine smalls. Many of the items we sold never made it to my website, we just purchased them. I have to thank Bob and Ellen for being such great show promoters, always advertising this show well. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday, as we also settle down to enjoy the Christmas season and looking forward to the New Year!!
